Inge, a feisty little Lady, took great pride in being a member of the AAC.  Cancer
took her before she could finish her observatory where she hoped to make
observations of the Sun.

Ingeborg Strangfeld Hutchison-Shearer

Ingeborg "Inge" Strangfeld Hutchison-Shearer of Lake Geneva died Tuesday [Oct.
5, 2004] at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville after a brief
illness. She was 73.

She was born in Cliffside Park, N.J., and moved to Lake Geneva from Miami
Beach in 1960. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Lake Geneva after 37
years of service in 2003. She was a clerk for seven years and served as the
postmaster for 30 years.

She also worked for 33 years preserving Florida's remaining black bear population.
She was a wildlife rehabilitator for 15 years and volunteered until June at the
University of Florida Wildlife Medical Department. She acquired 500 acres for the
Gold Head Branch State Park under the State Land Acquisition Act.

She was the Clay County liaison for the St. John's River Water Management
District in the 1980s. She enjoyed flying, boating, fishing, hiking, biking and
traveling in her RV. She was a member of The Nature Conservancy and the
Alachua Astronomy Club.

She was a member of the Christian Science Society of Gainesville.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lt. Col. Graham Hutchison and a
son, Mark Hutchison.

Survivors include her husband of 15 years, James N. Shearer of Lake Geneva; a
son, Roderick L. Hutchison of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
