- Telescope: Celestron Model Celestar 8, 8-in. Schmidt-Cassegrain, Focal Length 2032 mm, f/10, with a focal reducer, which converts telescope to 1280mm, f/6.3
- Camera: Canon EOS 1
- Film: Konica 3200 and Fuji 1600
- Exposure: 10 to 25 minutes
- Filters: Orion SkyGlow Broadband
- Notes: Negatives were scanned into Adobe PhotoShop, where the multiple exposures were sandwiched together to create the final composite image. This technique was described in the November 1998 issue of Sky and Telescope magazine
