Author's Byline
Authors should submit a short byline that we will print at the end of your article. The byline should contain your name and a brief statement about who you are especially information that shows relevance to the AAC, astronomy, your profession, etc.
Examples:Submission of Articles
- David K. Smith is president of the AAC and a Gainesville civil engineer.
- Barbara G. Williams is the AAC Outreach Chair and observes from her home in Bronson.
- Judy E. Grant is an AAC member and an avid lunar observer.
- Peter I. Gold is an AAC member and a sales representative for SeeMore Telescopes, Inc. He lives in the Chiefland Astronomy Village.
- Sandy Peters is a new AAC member and beginning star gazer. She hopes to buy her first telescope this year.
- Lance Bradford is a senior at Gainesville High School. He won first place in this year's Alachua County Science for his project on putrid gases in comet tails.
- John Roberts is an avid astrophotographer. His pictures often appear on the APOD web site.
The AAC encourages readers to submit articles and letters for inclusion in FirstLight. The AAC reserves the right review and edit all articles and letters before publication. Send all materials directly to the FirstLight Editor.

Mailing Address for Hard Copies or CDs
- Hard Copies Submit all printed articles in dark type; use a simple, large font (at least 12 pt.). Double space between new paragraphs (i.e., do not indent new paragraphs). Use 8-1/2 x 11 paper and print only on one side of paper. Submit pictures, figures or diagrams on separate pages. (Identify picture figure or diagram on back.)
- Non-Hard Copies We encourage and prefer submission of articles by e-mail or on a CD. Submit as either a plain text or Microsoft Word file. (In addition, you can also send a copy as a pdf file but you also need to send your text or Word file too.) Send pictures, figures or diagrams as separate gif or jpg files.
Note: Since our mailbox is not checked daily, mail materials well before deadline date. (Hence, submission by e-mail is much preferred!)
