Telescope Shoot Out, Winter Star Party Redux & Backyard Photos

David Liles will be returning from the WSP with a spandy new Celestron Edge HD. Before he sends it back, we're going to set it up next to a classic C-8, and see just how much better it is.

We'll also be taking a quick look at innovations, unique hardware and techniques gathered at the 2010 WSP.

Finally, Howard Cohen will show a few slides depicting simple astro photos you can do from your back yard with a camera or small telescope.

Webcam to Astrocamera...

Taking a page from Gary Honis, Sandon Flowers will show us how to make a dedicated astrocam, starting with an affordable webcam.

Imaging requires targets, and you don't want to waste precious telescope time making decisions, so Mike Toomey will also be demonstrating the SkyTools software.

The Sandon-cam on the Moon...lunar photography with a homebrew CMOS camera...

This is a LOG-Lite Session, so Bob O'Connell will be helping us pick interesting features. Now that we have our astrocam/webcam, we're going to do some lunar imaging. We'll also be comparing the Bahtinov focusing mask with Sandon's "Cross Hair" mask.
