The CCD Camera
by George RussellDuring the holidays, this project had been placed on hold but some effort was made to tie up a few loose ends. It was observed that on final tests of the power supply that slow-blow fuses should have been used when "over-loads" were applied to the various output voltages. I had fast-blow fuses on hand in the junk box and, as predicted, they blew rather quickly when the loads were applied. These slo-blow fuses are readily available from Radio Shack.
The cooling system is essentially complete but cannot be fully tested until the aluminum camera head is finished which will be my next goal. The aluminum camera head provides a way to position the CCD chip in its proper place and has a couple of input and output ports for the cooling liquid to low to cool down the chip.
I'll be getting into the electronics portion of this project in the next month or two and hopefully, with a minimum of delays, I hope to be providing the necessary tests that this project will require.
